    Who are Bright Little Labs?

Bright Little Labs is a kids media company on a mission to give all kids 21st century skills. Our original content teaches kids about computer science, spotting fake news, and the power of a good emoji. We are passionate about closing the digital skills gap - which is global, growing and exacerbates inequality.

We have won multiple awards (top coding toy in the UK 2019 (The Sun), 2018 (Evening Standard) + 2017 (Independent) and have users in over 100 countries on their digital platform. WarnerMedia is our strategic investor and we launched a live-spy experience Kidzania in 2019.

In July 2020 we launched a new book, Agent Asha: Mission Shark Bytes with Walker Books. Next? Expect cartoons, games, new IP, more toilet humour and taking over the world..

What is the Children’s Spy Agency (The CSA)?

The CSA is a top-secret organization that investigates global mysteries and fights crime. Our motto? Think for Yourself and Question Everything.

    What is STEM?

STEM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, and Maths. Add an 'A' for Art, and you get STEAM. These subjects help kids develop essential skills like problem-solving, creativity, and critical thinking.

    What are 21st century skills?

These are the skills kids need to thrive in our fast-paced, tech-driven world. They include the 4Cs: Communication, Collaboration, Critical Thinking, and Creativity. At Bright Little Labs, we've developed a unique curriculum that embeds these skills into all our products.

Why is coding so important for kids?

Without coding, there wouldn’t be spaceships, the internet, or the ability to tweet through your fridge. Everything in the digital age is built on code, so learning digital literacy is essential to understand the world around us - similar to other literacies, like reading. We don’t necessarily need our kids to grow up to be Shakespeare, but we need to ensure they can read.

The economy knows it too. Coding is the #1 sought-after skill in employees and it's estimated that by 2050, 50% of today’s jobs will be automated. We know that technology is shaping our future and has so many emancipatory possibilities, so it’s important that children from all backgrounds can take part.

    What’s your approach to diversity?

Diversity is embedded throughout our company. Internally, we proactively recruit in different places to attract people from different backgrounds, train people up who might not have the right skills, and use merit-based interview practices. This gives chances to people who aren’t traditionally let into the door, and helps to up-skill individuals to continue our effort to diversify the workforce.

We also include a diverse range of voices in our creative process - we conduct interviews with families, run regular user testing sessions, and hire tech & cultural researchers.
